Valve's Steam Machine series of gaming computers using Linux-derived SteamOS was introduced in 2015, which worked their way into the conception of the Steam Deck. The system features a desktop mode, allowing users to install third-party applications or operating systems. In addition to handheld use, the Steam Deck can be connected connected to a TV or monitor through a docking station and be used like a desktop computer or home video game console. SteamOS incorporates Valve's Proton compatibility layer, allowing users to run Windows applications and games. The device uses Valve's Linux distribution SteamOS, which incorporates the namesake Steam storefront. The Steam Deck is a handheld gaming computer developed by Valve and released on February 25, 2022. Game runs fairly well and good- max resolution tho 720p.Īnyhow, the case I find weird as inside there’s no room for placing the charger, but a weird indentation on the back/bottom of the steam deck case with some rubber strap. Then I had to purchase through the launcher itself so I bought this twice. and go to rockstars website and download the launcher and had to use desktop mode and follow tedious instructions. Some games don’t run at all - take Max Payne 3 for instance as it was a previous purchase a couple years back when I did have an actual gaming PC, kept asking for a “Rockstar game launcher”. You’ll need to be techy or research on YouTube about Game compatibilities. I use mines with a dualsense controller and plugged into an external monitor with a 3rd party dock (but any usb dock should work). Great portable handheld gaming product, though it does take time to get used to. May need to research YouTube vids on installing some games from desktop mode
